Meal Services

Three meals a day are included in your monthly fee. Each meal features a variety of selections for every appetite. Our Registered Dietician and Director of Food Services are available to meet with you to plan your meals and discuss your nutritional needs. In our main dining room, a friendly host or hostess will greet you and assist with your seating preference. If you choose to have breakfast in your apartment, our dietary staff will provide you with a supply of your favorite breakfast items like fruit, muffins, danish, juice, cereal, and milk. We can also prepare a complimentary sack lunch if you are going to miss a meal or perhaps would like a picnic lunch to eat while enjoying the outside air and beautiful grounds of our Community. If you do miss a meal, you will receive a guest meal certificate for later use by a guest of your choice.

If you would like to have a family gathering, birthday party, or friends in to enjoy Friends Fellowship, we have several private dining rooms available at no charge. Our dietary department will set the tableware for your use and take care of the cleanup. We can also provide a catered meal at a very reasonable cost for any type of occasion.

Housekeeping

Once every two weeks, a housekeeper will thoroughly clean your apartment, including dusting and polishing furniture, vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom. Trash is collected once a week. On a periodic basis, windows are washed, draperies and sheers are cleaned and carpets are shampooed.

Transportation

Friends Fellowship Community provides transportation to downtown Richmond, banks, doctors’ offices and other appointments via group van or personal car and driver. The van is provided at no extra charge on regular trips four times per day, two days per week. Transportation is also provided to numerous local cultural events such as Richmond Civic Theater, Richmond Art Museum, and Richmond Symphony Orchestra. Anytime five or more residents wish to attend a local event, Friends Fellowship provides transportation at no extra cost. Out-of-town group trips are available at cost.

Laundry

Once a week, your flat linens will be laundered, ironed and returned to your apartment. For your convenience, a laundry room with three sets of washers and dryers is available for independent residents’ personal use.

Activities

Friends Fellowship offers activities designed to appeal to a variety of interests throughout the week. Special events are also scheduled from time to time. Recreational facilities include a sewing and craft room, ceramics room, wood-working shop, indoor shuffleboard area, table tennis, exercise classes and fitness room, a fishing pond, flower and vegetable gardens, sidewalks for strolling about the grounds, several lounges for gatherings, card playing and entertaining programs, and a private dining room for personal parties.

Nursing Services

A licensed nursing staff is on duty 24 hours a day for emergencies. The Clinic nurse is available during designated hours for routine services such as monitoring weight, checking blood pressure and administering medication. Flu and pneumonia vaccinations are also available.

Health Care Center Services

Comprehensive nursing care services are available to Independent Residential residents in the Health Care Center for temporary recuperative stays or permanent transfers from apartment. An additional daily fee is assessed for Health Care Center Services.
