One of the most unique and valuable services we provide to all Life Care members of Friends Fellowship Community is guaranteed access to comprehensive nursing care if it is ever needed. Staffed with professional nurses (R.N.’s and L.P.N.’s), Nursing Assistants, Activity Assistants and other support staff, the Health Care Center at Friends Fellowship Community is licensed by the Indiana State Department of Health as a Comprehensive Care Facility.

The Health Care Center is connected to the first floor of the main building and can accommodate 63 people. It features screened and outdoor patios, a lovely and spacious dining room, activity room, and comfortable lounge area.  Our semi-private rooms feature two windows giving you a chance to enjoy the outside scenery and are large enough to bring your personal touches from home. We give you a variety of opportunities to be involved and meet other residents through the social, spiritual, and recreational activities that are available. Our Health Care Center staff works to create a loving and caring environment that promotes quality of life, independence, and dignity.

The Health Care Center offers recuperative care as well as long-term nursing care.  Recuperative stays for Life Care residents provide the time and care needed until you are ready to return to your apartment or independent home. All medications and ancillary supplies used while in the Health Care Center will be billed to the resident. Each Life Care resident on admission to Friends Fellowship and every year thereafter on their admission anniversary will receive ten (10) discount days or days where the daily Health Care Center fee is waived. The discount days may accumulate for three (3) years, or to a total of thirty (30) days. These days may be used in the Health Care Center when needed.

Since choosing to discontinue our participation in the Medicare program, Friends Fellowship offers two options to Life Care residents who have been hospitalized for at least four days in a row. The first option is for the Life Care resident to return to the Health Care Center and receive a maximum of thirty (30) consecutive days, free of the daily charge and thirty (30) consecutive days of physical therapy, if needed at no charge. These discount days are available after each qualifying stay in the hospital. If the resident is discharged from the Health Care Center during this thirty (30) day period, the remaining discount days are lost. The thirty (30) days from a qualifying hospital stay are in addition to the ten (10) discount days accumulated per year, on the admission anniversary, as described above. A Life Care resident who has lived at Friends Fellowship for three years could potentially have a total of sixty (60) discount days after a qualifying hospital stay. The second option is for the Life Care resident to elect to receive Medicare coverage by requesting admission into a facility that participates in the Medicare program.

We also provide private pay or respite care for those who need comprehensive nursing care on a short-term basis without the requirement of paying the Life Care entry fee.
