Guarantee of Lifetime Care
Our guarantee of lifetime care ensures a member
resident will not be required to leave Friends Fellowship if their
future financial resources become insufficient. Sometimes this need
is precipitated by an unexpected and lengthy illness. In other
cases, people simply outlive the resources that once seemed
sufficient to sustain them throughout their lifetime. Providing
this financial support has been central to our Mission from the very
beginning and is instrumental in maintaining our status as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit
organization. Our General
Endowment Fund, created in 1962, enables us to provide this
important financial guarantee by using the investment income to
assist those residents in need.
The Friends Ministers Fund, created in 1995,
provides financial assistance to Friends ministers, missionaries,
and their spouses who have faithfully served Friends in Indiana
Yearly Meeting for a minimum of 10 years as a recorded minister and
whose resources may be insufficient both for entry fees and monthly
care fees. Availability of assistance from this fund does vary,
since it is dependent on the number of individuals
receiving assistance at any one time.
The names of the people receiving assistance are held
in the strictest confidence. The number of residents receiving financial assistance during the
last six years has averaged 12 individuals and has been as high as
16, representing approximately 7% of our member resident population.
Nearly 70 residents have received over $3,000,000 in financial
assistance from the Endowment Fund since the late 1960’s and the
amount of assistance provided each year continues to increase.
Our on-going goal is to reach a broader public by
having the ability to provide assistance to a larger percentage of
our resident population and those who have faithfully served Quakers
in Indiana Yearly Meeting. The principal of these funds is never
touched and grows through charitable contributions such as memorial
gifts, annual gifts, bequests, and planned gifts. To meet the
annual financial need and attain our goal requires increasing the
principal of these funds through the generosity of charitable
contributions. Anyone interested in learning more about these
benevolent funds or in making a contribution is invited to
contact John Robinson, Director of Development at 765-962-6546 or jrobinson@ffcinc.org.

The
Endowment Tree of Lights
|
 |
In the Fall of 2000, Friends Fellowship
established an annual fundraising event called the Endowment Tree of
Lights. During the holiday season, each donation to the General
Endowment Fund or Friends Ministers Fund is represented by a light
on a beautiful 15 foot Norway Spruce evergreen located on our front
lawn, readily visible to passing traffic. The tree was donated by
Jim Brower of Brower Gaar Nurseries of Cambridge City, IN, and the
electrical installation was provided by
Hill Electric of Richmond, IN. The colorful lights
remain lit throughout the nighttime hours during the holiday season
for our residents to enjoy as well as serving as a reminder of the
importance of these two funds to our Community. Donations may be
given in memory or in honor of a loved one or friend. Those honored
are informed of the gift and notifications for memorial
gifts are made per donor request. An official dedication and
lighting ceremony of the tree was held on December 1, 2000. A total
of 70 people participated in this event by making contributions
which resulted in 175 lights. Anyone
interested in learning more about this annual event or in making a contribution is invited to contact John Robinson, Director of
Development at 765-962-6546 or jrobinson@ffcinc.org.
Planned Giving
Available
In 1995, Friends Fellowship established a working
relationship with the Mennonite Foundation. This relationship
provides the donors of Friends Fellowship access to the management
and administrative services of the Mennonite Foundation, along with
their technical and consulting expertise in making a planned gift to
benefit Friends Fellowship Community. The Mennonite Foundation is
located in Goshen, IN and has been in existence for 40 years helping
individuals meet their charitable interests by making them aware of
the various planned giving vehicles available. Many of our donors
have taken advantage of this relationship by way of a charitable
gift annuity agreement in which Friends Fellowship Community is the
ultimate beneficiary. Planned gifts allow a donor to accomplish
several objectives by meeting their charitable giving goals,
increasing their annual income, and enabling them to still be able
to provide an inheritance for their heirs. Some examples include:
estate planning, wills, bequest plans, life income plans, current
gift plans, and life estate plans. Anyone interested in learning
more about planned giving options to benefit Friends Fellowship
Community is invited to contact John Robinson, Director of
Development at 765-962-6546 or jrobinson@ffcinc.org.
The
Legacy Circle
of
Friends
Fellowship Community
Friends Fellowship Community is excited to announce
the creation of a group called the Legacy Circle for planned gift
donors to Friends Fellowship Community.
| Legacy - Something handed down from an ancestor or
predecessor |
 |
| Circle
- A union of friends sharing a common interest or mission |
Membership is open to anyone desirous of supporting
the Mission of Friends Fellowship through a planned gift. A minimum
dollar amount is not required to qualify for membership nor is
disclosure of the dollar amount. To join all you
need to do is notify Friends Fellowship Community that you have
included us in your estate plan or as the beneficiary of a planned
gift. Examples of planned gifts are a bequest in a will, charitable
gift annuity, pooled income fund, charitable remainder trust,
charitable lead trust, or life insurance policy, to name a few.
Members of the Legacy Circle will enjoy the
satisfaction of knowing they are financially supporting the Mission
of Friends Fellowship through a planned gift to either the General
Endowment Fund or Friends Ministers Fund. Both of these funds
guarantee lifetime care for our residents. Members of the Legacy
Circle will also receive a lapel pin signifying their support of
Friends Fellowship as well as an invitation to an annual
appreciation dinner. Members’ names will be kept confidential and
will only be published with member approval. Recognition will be
given to members through a prominently displayed plaque naming the
individuals who made a bequest or planned gift to Friends
Fellowship, after the gift has been received.
Anyone interested in learning more about the
Legacy Circle of Friends Fellowship Community or to become a member
is invited to contact John Robinson, Director of Development at
765-962-6546 or jrobinson@ffcinc.org.
Wheelchair
Van Fundraising Project
| Friends Fellowship Community |
| Resident Wheelchair Van |
 |
|
|
In the fall of 2000, a nine-month campaign to raise
money for a wheelchair van was successfully completed. The
goal of $40,000 was exceeded, with a total of $40,350 in
contributions received from 75 donors. A new 2000 Dodge Grand
Caravan ES wheelchair van was purchased in December 2000 to
provide transportation for residents to the
doctor’s office, hospital, and recreational outings. The wheelchair
van is a wonderful addition to our transportation
services and was made possible solely by the many generous
donors to this important project. |
