Each apartment features a private bath, closet space, an emergency call system, cable TV service, sheers, drapes and wall-to-wall carpeting.  The building has a central thermal heating/cooling system and individual heating and cooling controls are provided in each apartment.  Individual attic storage spaces are usually available.  All utilities except telephone service are included in the monthly fee.

Dining

Three meals a day are included in the monthly fee.  They are planned by a Registered Dietitian and the Director of Food Services.  Regular and special diets can be accommodated. Selective menus assure variety at meal time.  Breakfast is served in your apartment.  Lunch and dinner are served in a dining room located near your apartment.  A member of our staff is on duty in the dining room during meal time.  A private dining room is also available at no charge.

Laundry

Once a week, your bed and bath linens and personal laundry are washed, ironed and returned to your apartment.  Dry cleaning is available at an additional fee.

Activities

A variety of activities and programs are available and are an important part of staying healthy and active.  A special activity calendar is posted in each hall to inform residents and family members of upcoming events.  Many activities are available such as regular bus rides, sing-a-longs, bingo, church services, cooking and more.  Special events are also scheduled from time to time, depending on individual interests.  Recreational facilities include a sewing and craft room, ceramics room, woodworking shop, indoor shuffleboard area, fitness classes and exercise room, a fishing pond, flower and vegetable gardens, several lounges for gatherings, card playing and entertaining programs.

Housekeeping

Once every two weeks, a housekeeper will thoroughly clean your apartment, including dusting and polishing furniture, vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom. Spot housekeeping is done daily and includes bathroom cleaning, bed making and trash pick-up.  On a periodic basis, windows are washed, draperies and sheers are cleaned and carpets are shampooed.

Transportation

Transportation service is available to ambulatory residents.  If an Assisted Residential resident needs assisted transportation to a physician’s office or for out-patient hospital treatment, an ambulance or care van provides this service at the resident’s expense.  The Friends Fellowship wheelchair van is available for in-town appointments.  Staff members are available to accompany the resident at a minimal charge.

Nursing Services

A licensed nursing staff is on duty 24 hours a day.  Minimal assistance with dressing, hygiene and, if needed, meal time reminders are provided.  Medications are dispensed by licensed nurses.

Health Care Center Services

Comprehensive nursing care services are available in the Health Care Center for temporary recuperative stays or permanent transfers from apartments.  While Assisted Residential residents are in the Health Care Center, the usual daily fee for Assisted Residential is waived. The daily fee for the Health Care Center is assessed instead.
